Facebook Social Recruiting
I am someone who has been aggressively using new technology for years. I bought my first computer in 1983, installed a high speed modem (1200 baud was high speed) and was online immediately networking with people (I was an early adopter of fax machines, too).
I use social networks to connect with people in my searches and to research client managers who will be interviewing my candidates (the LinkedIn profiles your managers and executives create are rich sources of information for recruiters to use when coaching job applicants).
Facebook has created a cute idea for doing truly social recruiting using their ad system.
Their ads can be extremely well targeted. So what you can do is run an ad and include a photo of the hiring manager and then target their friends. Their friends can "Like" the ad and that will place it on their Facebook wall where their friends can see it. Those friends see the "Like" as an endorsement and may choose to Like it to and have it land on their Wall.
To me, this is a cute way to advertise and also receive a social endorsement.
